There was an 80s night at the Orpheum theatre where they were playing Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty in Pink. At these theme nights they give a prize for dressing up. The night before the movie I realised that Save Ferris t-shirts for our whole group (6 of us were attending) could be cool, but by then it was too late to order t-shirts and there’s nowhere that sells them locally. So the day of the movie I bought some cheap t-shirts, fabric paint, adhesive spray, a plastic sheet to make a stencil and got to work.
I printed the words on regular printer paper and used a stanley knife to cut the stencil out of the plastic sheet. The adhesive spray helps to keep the paper and plastic together while cutting, and keeps the stencil in place while painting, and keeps the shirts in place on an inner board so the paint doesn’t seep through to the back of the shirt.
I did all the shopping and made 6 shirts in the space of about 3 hours. It was a bit mad, and fun! Oh, and we did win the $100 prize 😉
